Amanda Hoskin is internationally known for her sumptuous paintings of the Cornish Coastline, moors and woodlands. She develops her work through walking in and observing this rich landscape, making extensive sketches and notes in water colour and pencil. Her long-term engagement with this environment provides her with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the area. What you see in a painting by Amanda is a privilaged glimpes, a vision of her journey and the love of her native Cornwall. The paintings are more than observations they describe an emotional response to the awesome nature of being alone and at one in the landscape.
