We are pleased to show the vibrant, witty and popular work of the Falmouth based Artist Julian Christophers.
Julian began painting as a refuge, a way to maintain his equilibrium at the age of 20. Early in his career he was advised by Patrick Woodrow not to attend art school as he felt this would alter his vision and destroy his unique style. Twenty years later this seems to have been sound advice.
Julian is well know and has many serious collectors who love his vision of Cornwall, its fishing boats and harbours. They revel in his clever use of colour and his deceptively simple, almost childlike, yet highly sophisticated compositions.
Julian is a compulsive artist, an obsessive observer and recorder of life as he sees it going on around him.
Nothing avoids his gaze, he paints fishing boats, Cathedrals, people, still lifes and flowers.
Julian is an artist in the truest sense, he needs to paint in the same way that we need to breath.
